A Return from Bliss

Apologies for the short disappearance. I was busy with some stuff then took an impromptu trip. Well fairly impromptu. Not quite all the way to Kakadu but a little getaway fun.

One of our friends won a free airline ticket in some contest recently to Brisbane. So two of us her decided to join her up there, since she lives in WA and we rarely get to see her. So we just spent a couple of days relaxing and having fun in Brisbane.

Our hotel was amazing. We stayed at Stamford Plaza Brisbane and really felt like princess. Acted like wags. Lol. We wish! We met some cute guys who were staying at Base backpackers and so ended up half like backpackers and half like grown ups in a proper hotel. It was a lot of fun. The guys were so funny and rando. Too bad they don’t live near us, can’t hang out more 😦

We also did Zumba in the park which was actually surprisingly fun. Always been curious about it. Might just sign up for some classes at home. Well…. I say that now. Lol. Really liked the Brisbane beaches too.

Really felt like a holiday even tho it was short. Shld do it more often. Doesn’t cost much more than a big weekend out at home, so why not check out somewhere new?

Good times. And really nice catching up with the girlfriends too 🙂 Happy girl.

National Parks

Top of my list of places to go are national parks and UNESCO heritage sites. I want to go places that are beautiful and have this whole sense of experience, more than just partying in a new city — which would be awesome too don’t get me wrong. But I really want my weekend getaways to really feel full and leave an impact when I have nothing more than weekends.

I’ve been reading about a few places. Found this list which is pretty interesting and Kakadu is on there. Well Chile sounded the best but as I said, I am starting with travelling Australia more. So Kakadu has got my attention.

“Australia’s largest national park (it’s half the size of Switzerland!) is as notable for its natural beauty as it is for its historical artifacts. The Aboriginal people have occupied the Kakadu area near-continuously for at least 40,000 years, and there are more than 5,000 recorded art sites, including cave paintings and rock carvings of long-extinct giant kangaroos and thylacines. ”

Sold!

Having a look at some hotels in the area. Might be the next place on the list. Get the ball rolling eh!

If you’ve been to kakadu, leave me some times! Most excited abt the Aboriginal art bit

When Rewatching Classics Ruins Things

I remember watching The Notebook with some girlfriend recently. We were really excited about watching it together for the first time. We hadn’t met when it was first released. We were having some boy problems and stuff and decided to have this girly night. They don’t live in my town you see. We met on one of my trips and became really close. So they came over to hang out with me in my town and be outsiders together.

So anyway we were all excited about having this girly day in on the couch watching romcoms together. We decided to put the mother of all girly shows and watch The Notebook. At the end of the film we were cursing. Yeah. not quite the same way we received it when we were young and unbittered.

Friends is probably the only thing I can rewatch and it has the same appeal. Some shows get better in time actually. But the reason I bring this up is because of how this girl expressed her magical beliefs cracking when she rewatched a Disney film.

Read to the end cos it gets funny when she saves the broken memory with a brand new realisation.. Cute! Hehe.

A New Blog

Hello world!

Just returned from a trip and totally revved up. There is something about holidays that make you really excited about life. Life’s possibilities. It’s always like that for a little while. I thought I should make use of that energy to start a blog and just share everything and anything that interests me.

About Me:

I am Skyelar. I have been spending a bit more time exploring Australia, which is where I’m from. I’ve always dreamed of visiting the United States but right now I am quite excited about all the travelling I have been doing here. There is actually more than I realised right here and I’m having heaps of fun.

I am trying to do with my life while I am young and have my friends to accompany me. So yeah. That’s it. Will share thoughts and anything interesting really. Might turn out to be just a girly blog tho.. lol. Don’t say I didn’t warn u.

Hope I manage to keep this one up!
